12 Days 11 Nights
Tokyo, Takayama, Shirakawago, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Nara, Mt. Koya, Osaka
Day 1: Tokyo Arrival
Arrive at Narita airport and meet your local representative, who will assist with your airport bus transfer to your hotel. Arrive at your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Tokyo (B)
Your morning tour starts with a visit to the Meiji Shrine. Drive by the National Diet Building and stop for a brief visit to the Imperial Palace East Garden. Continue to visit the Asakusa Kannon Temple, Tokyo’s oldest and most famous Buddhist Temple. Here you can also browse through the many colorful stores that line the Nakamise walkway leading up the temple. Your tour will end at Tokyo Station where you will have the rest of the day at leisure. Your tour guide will give you details on how to make your own way back to your hotel.
Day 3: Tokyo (B)
Spend the full day at leisure, exploring Tokyo on your own.
Day 4: Tokyo – Takayama (B)
Make your way to Tokyo or Shinagawa station, where you will board your Shinkansen (Bullet Train) and travel to Nagoya. Upon arrival in Nagoya you will connect to a regional train to Takayama. Arrive at Takayama and make your way to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Note: Your luggage will be transferred directly from Tokyo to Kyoto. Please be sure to have your bag at the Bell Desk of your hotel by 7:30 AM. You will also need to take an overnight bag with you for the next three nights.

Day 5: Takayama – Shirakawago (B/D)
Spend the morning at leisure, exploring the city on your own. The city’s old quarter is especially beautiful, with many traditional Japanese-style buildings. In the early afternoon you will travel by bus from Takayama to Shirakawago, a village known for its distinctive ‘Gassho-zukuri’ style homes. Arrive in Shirakawago and make your way to your ‘Ryokan’, or Japanese-style inn. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the village. Return to your Ryokan at the end of the day for dinner.

Day 6: Shirakawago – Kanazawa (B)
After breakfast at your Ryokan you will travel by bus from Shirakawago to Kanazawa. Arrive at Kanazawa and make your way to your hotel. You will then have the rest of the day free at leisure to explore Kanazawa on your own. The highlight of any visit to this city is Kenroku-en garden. Ranked as one of the top three in Japan, its breathtaking beauty shines through in any season. A visit to the imposing Kanazawa Castle next door is also a must do. Return to your hotel at the end of the day.

Day 7: Kanazawa – Kyoto – Nara – Kyoto (B)
Spend the morning at leisure in Kanazawa. Then in the afternoon you will travel by train from Kanazawa to Kyoto. Upon arrival in Kyoto meet your local representative and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon travel from Kyoto by train to Nara. Once there you will take a walking tour to visit sights include Todaiji Temple, home of the Great Buddha, Nara Deer Park and Kofukuji Temple. Travel back to Kyoto and spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 8: Kyoto (B/L)
After breakfast, join a full day coach tour of Kyoto including Kiyomizu Temple, Sanjusan Gendo, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Arashiyama (Bamboo Forest), Tenryu Temple and Kinkakuji Temple. Your tour will end at Kyoto Station where you will have the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 9: Kyoto (B)
Spend the full day at leisure exploring Kyoto on your own.
Day 10: Kyoto – Mt. Koya (B/D)
This morning a local representative will meet you at your hotel and assist with your transfer from Kyoto to Shin-Imamiya. Here you will change trains and then travel by cable car to Mt. Koya. Upon arrival you will check in to your Ryokan. The rest of the day will be free for you to explore the area, the home of the Koyasan Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to many temples and monasteries as well as spectacular scenery. Return to your Ryokan at the end of the day for dinner.
Note: Your luggage will be transferred directly from Kyoto to Osaka. Please be sure to have your bag at the Bell Desk of your hotel by 7:30 AM. You will also need to take an overnight bag with you for your trip to Mt. Koya.

Day 11: Mt. Koya – Osaka (B)
After breakfast, enjoy some more free time before you travel back to the bottom of the mountain by cable car. You will then travel by train to Osaka. Arrive at Osaka station and make your way to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Accommodation: Granvia Osaka or similar
Day 12: Osaka – Departure (B)
Enjoy free time before you transfer to the airport to board your return flight back to Canada.
