Day 1:    Arrive Auckland (D)

Arrive at Auckland airport and transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, meet your travel director for a welcome reception and highlight dinner at the hotel.

Day 2:    Auckland (B)

Start the day with a sightseeing tour including Bastion Point, the War Memorial and Viaduct Harbour, then cruise on Waitemata Harbour. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3:    Auckland – Rotorua (B/L/D)

Follow the trail of the Waikato River to the home of Lance and Bridgette O’Sullivan, of New Zealand horse racing fame, for a ‘Be My Guest’ experience, a traditional country-style lunch at the Red Barn on their beautiful Waikato farm. A very personal cultural evening awaits you at the Tamaki Māori Village. Feast on succulent meats and vegetables cooked in a Hangi, the traditional Māori method of cooking in the earth using geothermal steam.

Day 4:    Rotorua – Christchurch (B)

After breakfast, visit Rainbow Springs Nature Park to observe many species of New Zealand fauna, including the iconic kiwi. From here you’ll visit Te Puia thermal reserve with its bubbling mudpools and stunning geysers. In the afternoon, fly to Christchurch.

Day 5:    Christchurch – Franz Josef (B/D)

Journey on the TranzAlpine train through the Southern Alps to Arthur’s Pass. At Hokitika visit a New Zealand greenstone factory for a jewelry demonstration. Travel along the Coastal road to Franz Josef Glacier for a short walk to view the glacier and perhaps take an optional scenic flight (weather permitting).

Day 6:    Franz Josef – Queenstown (B/D)

Enjoy a coastal drive with views of the Tasman Sea. Climb over the Haast Pass winding through Mount Aspiring National Park. Then your journey takes you past Lakes Wanaka and Hawea and heads along the Kawarau River through the Kawarau Gorge. Finally, visit the historic village of Arrowtown on the Arrow River, previously one of the world’s richest rivers, before arriving in Queenstown.

Day 7:    Queenstown – Milford Sound (B/L)

After breakfast, journey along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau, then drive through the hand-hewn Homer Tunnel to see Mirror Lake, Cleddau Valley, Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls before reaching mystical Milford Sound for a cruise on this natural wonder.

Day 8:    Queenstown (B/D)

Today is free for you to explore Queenstown or join optional excursions to see the city on your own. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at the Boatshed, with its spectacular views over Lake Wakatipu an the remarkable mountain range.

Day 9:    Queenstown (B)

Bid farewell to New Zealand. After breakfast transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.
